I maintained this gear for several years. Notice the stepper relays and the tubes!
Lots of clicking when things sequenced.
The "spotters" (Ampex 254 reel-to-reel decks running 10.5" reels, with transparent windows between spots) often lost indexing and played the wrong spot, too.
This stuff was state-of-the-art back in the 60s.
