Dear Mr. Johnson,

Just ran across your air check from 1965 at KOMA and it certainly was a trip back to the days when I was newly assigned to Tinker AFB and adjusting to life quite different from the northeast where I grew up. I knew nothing of PAMS jingles, but many were still lodged in my memory and your aircheck brought them into sharper focus. I think I remember you and also Dale Wehba, who frequently used the catch phrase "My people" which I never quite understood. I lived in Del City and often wondered if my part of town was affected by the tornado in, I think, 1999. Have been back to Tulsa more recently but only passed thru OKC. Sorry to hear of KOMA's fate, however, thanks for bring back memories of an earlier and more innocent time.

Best regards,

El Simon

Thanks for sharing your lovingly restored and digitized photo albums. I'm researching an old Iowa quilt which contained the names Mabel and Edna Hultquist, and so came across your photo collection. Many thanks even if the woman pictured is not the right Mabel!!!

Yes, Mr. Elonich, there are some more, but it will be a while before I get to digitize them. I am working on digitizing a huge collection of personal Kodacromes, then I'll get back to the railroad photos.

I'm happy they are able to bring back some memories. It was a great era in railroading.

Thank-You for posting the photos from Council Bluffs/Omaha taken in the late '60s. My Grandmother worked for UP in the CB yard cleaning locomotives. In '69 I would have been 7 and I vividly remember going over to the engine house to see where she worked. Your photos are excellent both from a historical point of view and also in terms of artistic composition. All I can say is.........Are there any more?

Thank-You!

Deane,
Geez....stumbled across the site today. Last time I saw you was in New Orleans when we worked at WTIX. You were the PD and I did the music for you and the 12-3pm show. Lot's of water has passed under the 'bridge' since then....recall the canoe trip to the station after Hurricane Betsy to check on the staff. Most were 'drunk' when we arrived...and one wanted to fight. Oh yes those were the good old days! I hope this finds you in good health and very wealthy.

This message is for Deane Johnson. In your vintage radio station section, I'm surprised you didn't include KITN in Olympia, Wa. It don't get no more vintage! Enjoyed your site, Deane. What's new with you? Tom Carnes

Thanks for posting all the studio photos, especially KWMT and KOMO to which I listened many hours during the 60s (KIOA as well). When was WDGY automated? I remember being in Minneapolis on a family vacation in August 63 (or 62) and they must have played Jimmy Dean's Little Black Book as a pick-hit once an hour. I am from cedar Falls originally and collect broadcast equipment as a hobby--consoles, TT, etc. Also enjoyed your air-checks on the Des Mones site, and Dr. Don photos. In late 70s I would have my friends send tapes of his show--he was the best.
