I'm not sure if I weep for the loss of this beautiful display or what it represents for me. My youth and a simpler time in America. It was lovely to go out at night and see this. Especially when there was snow on the ground with the music bouncing of of it. The sound was etherial.

This took me back to a time and place that was so etherial and spiritual. I loved being there after a snow fall and the way sound traveled across the sparkling snow. And the way the lights changed as they spread their vibrant colors across the snow and the beautiful statues. The music was so magical and other worldly. Mr. Harvey was a true blessing to the city of Nashville.

This brought back so many memories of my childhood. My mom and dad took us
there each year...and I remember it being such a magical time. It was my understanding
that the pieces were handmade from Italy and were given as a gift to Nashville from
Mr. Harvey of Harvey's department store. It was so nice to go back in time!

Thank you so much for the amazing photos! Going with my parents and grandparents annually to see the Navitiy is one of my fondest Christmas memories...absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Thank you for posting these beautiful photos! This nativity scene was made possible in Nashville for many years by Fred Harvey and Harvey's Department Store. It was still around in its last years when I was a small boy and was quite impressive! Now, as an adult, I think it was especially nice that a department store magnate (who had much to gain from the "commercial" aspect of Christmas) saw fit to fund and put up a display to remind everyone of the "true" meaning of Christmas. And just imagine, it was on display on public property, a city park, something that seems, sadly, unthinkable in this day and age.

I would love to get back to Nashville and go through the Parthenon again soon!.....I remember playing in the old train at the park, of course swimming at the pool, I spent a lot of time there.
