The Long Players were back at the Mercy Lounge, Saturday, February 7, 2009, performing Aretha Franklin's 1967 debut album for Atlantic Records, "I Never Loved A Man the Way I Love You" Songs include: Respect, Drown In My Own Tears, I Never Loved A Man the Way I Loved You, Soul Serenade, Don't Make Me Lose This Dream, Baby, Baby, Baby, Dr. Feelgood, Good Times, Do Right Woman, Do Right Man, Save Me, A Change Is Gonna' Come and a second set of Aretha covers. They have some amazing singers lined up for this night of Aretha. Contemporaries of Aretha’s like Nashville’s own Marion James (Night Train to Nashville) is on board as well as soulful-singing country star Pam Tillis. Three time Gospel Grammy winning Ashley Cleveland as well as the girls of Kentucky Thunder (Jonell Mosser, Etta Britt, Sheila Lawrence and Vickie Carrico). They had actress/singer Shonka Dukureh, the amazing Tiffany Johnson and a couple of soul men thrown in for good measure. Both legends and great singers in their own right, Dan Penn (yes, he wrote Do Right Woman..) and Mr. She Shot a Hole in My Soul, Clifford Curry, was also there.
