Doxa Lake Revisited

At the western part of Mount Ziria lies Feneos Plateau, with the artificial Doxa Lake hidden between the mountains at its very western part. Doxa Lake was formed between 1994 and September 1996, following the construction of a small dam. On a small peninsula in the middle of the lake stands the tiny chapel of St. Fanourios, built there in the 14th Century A.D. No buildings are allowed to be built on the sides of the lake and, when the weather is calm, the reflections of the rich greenery are breathtaking. The visitor can't help but savour the deep feeling of tranquility.

My early pictures of Doxa Lake, taken when I first visited the area in May 2003, can be found in my main Mount Ziria gallery. I decided, however, to dedicate this subgallery to Doxa Lake, as its unsurpassable magic will lead me there again and again - this very magic which led me and my wife to hold our wedding in front of St. Fanourios chapel, on 4 June 2006!
