These are children from the Dinka village of Duk Payuel in South Sudan. I selected them while looking for a photo to submit for the January 11, 2008 Totally Informal Transglobal Challenge, "The Eyes Have It". I think these eyes have several things - a picture of the poverty that these children live in, a hope for a better future, the dirt and dust of Southern Sudan, and, if you look carefully, perfect reflections of the photographer (me) in their eyes.
