1/31/05 - ...goes out like a lamb.

Germantown, MD

Went out for a walk today - brisk but spectacularly blue sky*. So I took pictures of anything I could that included the sky. This shot has absolutely no significance, inherent beauty, or any other reason for my choosing it. Still, I just kind of liked the lines and flow of it. Actually, a pretty lame photo for ending a month. Maybe something interesting will occur (or occur to me) before the end of the day. In the meantime, this is about as good as it's gonna get.

PS - Crop, contrast adjustment, minor sharpen, frame and sign.

Other stuff ...

* Ever since 9/11/2001, bright, clear, blue skys feel different to me. I find it impossible not to think about that day, and, for a brief instant, I feel an strange, sad chill in my chest. I hope some day I can enjoy a blue sky without regrets.

Coleen, It *is* a maple -- not bad. Several of the trees and shrubs I shot today seemed to have anxious buds -- undoubtedly due to the several days of warm weather we've had in the last couple of months (e.g., 70F on New Years Day). This week it's not expected above 40, and has been considerably colder most of the time. Cheers.

Beautiful in its simplicity. Looks like a maple and it's going to burst soon. We have silver gray skies here.

I like the lines and the perspective of this, too. It looks like there are buds and the tree is about to burst with life! A day with such crisp blue skies can feel so refreshing in January :)

I am sure with time that day will arrive again, where there will be no regrets. Seems lik you are working through this and photography can I would assume a way of healing. I really love the light reflection, or the light on the branches. This is so neat. ALmost like shadowplay against the tree. OF course, that blue sky is just gorgous.
