Probably should title this 50 on 50, since I took this with my 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor. I had a great story behind this photo yesterday, but the story was based on a stupid assumption on my part about the lens, so I spiked the story. Let's just leave it at the fact that this I just discovered this old lens in the gadget bag for my dear, forlorn Nikkormat 35mm SLR. I seldom used this lens because I thought I was a cooler photographer with my zoom lenses. I now realize that a)this is a better quality lens than those old zooms, and b)I'd have developed into a *better* photographer (vs. cooler) if I'd learned how to take good pictures without the crutch of the zooms. Alas, I'm probably now a little wiser, but I have to start all over in my quest for better and cooler. Now I have two 50mm Nikkor lenses. (Hmmm, Now, I seem to remember having dropped this baby on a mountain trail many years ago; maybe I should do a few tests with it before I try to use it.)
PS - Shot on white foamcore with single tungsten light on left; Crop; Curves adjustment to remove a yellow cast while retaining the red of the lens; Minor sharpenting (USM); frame and sign.
