8/12/04 - SP

Hmmm - these close-ups usually just remind me that I need a shave (and to try not looking like such a bloody curmudgeon). Actually, I'm trying to replicate a portrait style used by Irving Penn (Picasso) and another (name forgotten) photographer, who pointed out that Penn wasn't the first guy to use this specific style. (See http://www.agallery.com/Pages/photographers/penn.html>
Now I have to get out the hats.

Yes, very Hemingway-esque. Like it.

Northstar... remind me sometime to tell you my garage eyes story. Never been told I have electric eyes before. Hmmm... maybe it just means I have eyes that will turn on lights and open garage doors. :) Thanks anyway. You've made my day.

Thanks, Linda. Actually, I thought I looked a little pompous, but if you look just at the eyes, maybe a little wistful ... ah, to have such wist! :)

Also, I have the little (read overpriced) remote control when I'm doing SP's. That way, I'm not getting up, resetting the timer, repositioning myself, etc. It makes it a lot easier to shoot multiple shots with slight variation in head positioning, expression, ... and hat!

THis is FANTASTIC! Love the tones, the dark background and direct gaze. You have really gotten into this. Are those your new lights in your eyes?

Dennis, this is just a lovely SP! And tones accent it. P/S - Nah, you don't need to shave. :)

Gary said it all. It looks indeed like the classical Celebrity portrait one can commonly find in encyclopedias.

Kinda reminds me of Papa Hemmingway. Good shot! You look very philosophical.
