This is a little late, but what the heck. Our house was built around 1790, and there are lots of legacy nails, holes, "engravings", and other remnants of previous owners. This door frame is between the kitchen and main house. I imagine this key might have been hung up here for a no longer existent door. So, in a way, this is a high-key high key. OK, a little lame.
