Chacma Baboon with a Baby
We began January 1, 2013 with several great sightings.
After an early morning rain shower, we came upon a group of Chacma Baboons.

Carmine Bee-eater
The birds in Africa are diverse, interesting and several that we photographed are outright stunning - the Carmine Bee-eater is one of the most colorful birds.

Flap-necked Chameleon
We had a couple of sightings of Chameleons along the road.
This Flap-necked Chameleon was very photogenic on a nearby tree branch.

African Wild Dogs
We had the very special and unique opportunity to spend some time with an African Wild Dog Pack that numbered 19 dogs.
This is a photo of the Alpha Male of the pack.
This pack had up to 25 dogs a week or so earlier, but some may have been lost to an attack.

African Elephant
African Elephants were probably the most numerous animal that we saw in all the parks and reserves we visited.
We never tired of their behavior and the ability to photograph them each time we came upon them.

South African Giraffe Herd
Giraffes were another animal we looked forward to seeing in Africa.
Here is the South African Giraffe.
They were all keeping an eye on us as the posed for a group photograph.

Impala Ewe
Impala are very numerous in Kruger National Park. We saw herds of them throughout the park every day.
