RA19_54 DEC18_42 (M71 & OCL116)

Sedro-Woolley, Wa.

This image is centered at about RA 19hr 54min. Dec +18deg. 42min. and a field of view of 1X1.5 degrees, in the constillation Sagitta.
Celestial North is to the left and East is down.
The two main catalogued objects are Messier 71 and OCL-116.

M71 seen to the left of center, was discovered by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux in 1746. Charles Messier added the this cluster to his catalog in 1780.
Until the 1970's this cluster was catagorized as an open cluster but the general acceptance is now for a gloular cluster. Located about 12,000 light years from earth.

OCL-116 also known as Harvard 20 is seen in the right third, above center, in this image.

Hutech Clear Filter 40D,Skywatcher 120ED @ F6.6 Borg reducer (7887)
12X5 minute exposures were stacked and preprocessed with Nebulosity.
Final processing was done with Cannon DPP.
A Baader Moon/SkyGlow filter was used with a Skywatcher 120ED scope and Borg 0.85 reducer flattener.
The mount was an older Mountain Instrument tangent arm equatorial mount guided with a Borg 77ACH guide scope with Orion Star Shoot autoguider. full exif
