FLAME WIDE / IC 405 / IC 410

Sedro-Woolley, Wa.

These objects are located in the constillation Auriga. This photo is centered at about RA05:21 DEC+33deg 58min.
The field of view is about 3 by 4.5 degrees.
IC-405 known as the Flaming Star Nebula seen upper left of center is about 1500 light years away from earth.
The brightest star in the nebula is AE Auriga which is said to have origonated in the constillation Orion and is passing through the nebula at about 100KM/SEC.
IC-410 is seen lower right of center and envellops NGC-1893, a small open star cluster. The cluster/nebula is located 13 to 15 thousand light years away.
IC-410 is also called the tadpole nebula. In this picture the reason for the name isn't obvious but in other pictures taken from other locations and equipment the name is obvious..
