Mauna Kea Summit - W. M. Keck Observatory

W. M. Keck Observatory houses the world's two largest (10-meter)
optical/infrared telescopes operated by Caltech and University of California.

Mauna Kea (White Mountain) volcano rises 9,750 meters (32,000 ft) from the
ocean floor to an elevation of 4,205 meters (13,796 ft) above sea level.

At a distance of just under 80 miles, the peak seen between the domes at an
elevation of 3,055 meters (10,023 ft) above sea level is the summit of Haleakala
(House of the Sun) on the island of Maui.
