Mutli-Jeweled Pagoda (Da-bo-tap)

Gyeongju, South Korea view map

National Treasure No.20, built in 751 A.D., symbolizing Da-bo-yo-rae (Multi-jeweled Tathagata)
admiring the preachings of the sok-ga-yo-rae (Sakyanmuni Tathagata). For this reason, the pagoda
has a structure representing the various preachings of sok-ga-yo-rae. Originally, the four sides
on the platform of the pagoda had been decorated with four stone lions symbolizing the Lion's Roars
of sok-ga-yo-rae. But now only one of the four remains, the rest have been stolen and smuggled out
of the country. The pagoda is 10.4 meters high. The wooden architectural style is one of its
architectural characteristics.
