Wadi Rum is a expansive sandy valley with sandstone and granite mountains in southwest Jordan. Wadi Rum may be best known for the movie Lawrence of Arabia – which was filmed mostly at Wali Rum. In real life the British officer T.E. Lawrence based his operations in Wadi Rum during the Arab Revolt of 1917–18. I was only able to spend an afternoon and hired a jeep to drive out and see a sunset. This is magnificent country and some day I hope to be back and spend 3 or 4 days in this fascinating area.
