Ottawa, Ontario Tulip Festival 2008

In 1945, Canadian troops participated in the liberation of the Netherlands. Once the war had ended, the people of the Netherlands and Princess Juliana sent the Canadian people 100,000 tulip bulbs to Canada’s Capital in gratitude for the involvement of Canadian troops in the liberation. Parliament Hill is where the Gift of Tulips were first planted in 1945 and in May presents a beautiful array of tulips in front of Canada's Parliament Buildings.
