Bay of Fundy Hopewell Rocks and Fundy Nat’l Park - New Brunswick
Hopewell Rocks are one of Canada's natural wonders located in the upper end of the Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick – which is itself a natural wonder with the world’s highest tides. At Hopewell Rocks the tides average 14 m or 45 feet. At the end of the bay the tides are 16 m (or 52 feet). The Hopewell rocks are sandstone formations that have been carved by the tidal currents. Visitors are allowed on the beach from 3 hours before until 3 hours after low tide.
The pictures at Hopewell Rocks were taken from 10:00am – noon (no choice as tide dictates time) with grey skies. The chocolate brown rock with bright white with sky is about as harsh as lighting can get for photography. Therefore these pictures are far from ideal.
About 40 km down the road is Fundy National Park of the maritime Acadian Highlands region. The pictures taken there are at Point Wolfe River, where a sawmill once thrived during the 1800’s. The picturesque Dickson falls are near Point Wolf River and are a short 15 minute hike off the road.
