I had a once in a lifetime experience yesterday. I spent a couple of hours at my neighbors releasing raptors into the wild. My neighbor is a bird expert extraordinaire. It was his profession for many years until he retired three years ago from the Utah Wildlife Resources Division. Anyway, he has a friend that traps birds....raptors....at the Salt Lake City airport for a living. This is required to prevent birds from being ingested into jet intakes. After capturing a certain amount he then releases them into the wild. Today he decided to release them on my neighbors property (his friend) and neighbor Jim invited me to come over and take some pix. I didn't know I was also going to be able to actually handle some. Basically a mix of owls and hawks.
