A view of the urban sprawl that has happened since I was first stationed there in 1961. At that time there was virtually nothing south of the base until you got to San Clemente by way of PCH. The city of Irvine, Mission Viejo, Lake Forest and all the others that have popped up didn't exist. Ditto for the 405 freeway. Nothing but brown rolling hills, coyotes and jack rabbits.
