cRAW-ACR52pluspointfive30C30VnoSorNR.jpg

This is from an underexposed (but better for highlight gradation) cRAW of a subsequent frame. ACR 5.2 was used with Photoshop CS4/Bridge CS4, and 0.5 exposure increase was applied. 30 Clarity and 30 Vibrance were also added, but all sharpening and NR sliders were set to zero. No CA correction has been used. The JPEG has been saved at Level 10 to make it more or less equal to the in-camera JPEG, or better - the in-camera JPEG was 7.1MB, the Level 10 save from a more detailed ACR conversion was 9.2MB.

Studying the sky tones on the in-camera JPEG they look smooth but inexplicably 'dirty'. There is a mottled neutral density pattern present even in the lightest areas which just degrades the tone and does little else. The ACR conversion is purer, but has also been tuned to produce a more marketable colour and contrast rendering.
