You may have noticed the ships moored opposite. They have appeared in several pictures now. These
are two old decommissioned troop transport and support vessels. Interestingly they were originally
purchased cheaply from the U.S. navy about 20 years ago. With the coming of military deployments to
places like East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan and the coming of mass illegal immigration by leaking
boat from Indonesia and Asian locations further north, these vessels were in constant demand but
were never really suited for the roles they found themsevles in. I understand they are being/have
been replaced by ships specifically designed for the navy's anticipated needs.

Old naval vessels have frequently been placed here pending break up, sale or disposal, in recent times.
