For some while now, while this side of the road is primarily given over to housing, the other side
is mostly industry, dotted with building supply companies, car dealerships and warehouses.

I pass into what is now the Blacktown city local government area and immediately the sealed roadside
footpath finishes. There is unmown grass where I have to walk. Because of last night's rain, my
shoes and lower trousers have accumulated lots of moisture. I am becoming concerned that my sturdy
walking shoes will soon be wet through to my socks. If I have to walk in wet socks, blisters and
damaged feet will follow. I resolve to seek a drier route to follow.
