Juanita tells me that the "St Mary's Band Club" is an icon of the district. Licensed clubs are
huge businesses in western Sydney. They offer nicely appointed and reasonably priced restaurant
areas, lavishly appointed bars, poker machine dens, live entertainment venues, sporting facilities
gymnasia etc etc. If this example is a huge temple of popular entertainment then it must be
acknowledged that Penrith's "Panthers Club" is a veritable "palace" of popular entertainment. THAT
is arguably the largest licensed club in Australia. It was not on our route but it is certainly
something to see. Be certain of that.
