I ought to have known. The footpath just plain stops. What to do? I look across the road to spy
the commencement of a pedestrian way on the other side of the highway. There is a pedestrian
refuge on the median strip it seems, formed by two yellow barriers. There's no actual pedestrian
crossing, but it appears that I am expected to walk across the road at this point and resume my
journey on the far side. The traffic is light just now but there are times when it is very heavy
indeed. I despair at the inconsistency of facilities along this highway. Sometimes there are
elevated pedestrian overpasses and sometimes we are intended to get "run over". Great! Remind
me to send a letter to the Sydney Morning Herald. Harrumph again!
