Oh dear. The pristine new highway has come to a sudden end. This is a section of the road where
all of our Sydney visitors complain of hold ups, delays and traffic snarls. What a mess. In reality
this section of the Great Western Highway (i.e. from here to Woodford) should have been completed
almost eighteen months ago. The government contractor which was responsible for this bit went into
receivership amidst a flurry of court cases and dispute. Hence the construction site was left
pretty much abandoned all that time and highway traffic reduced to two very inadequate temporary
lanes. A new contractor has been appointed and work has now resumed thank heaven but it appears that
no one thinks that anything is very urgent. It's Sunday and so there is no work. Grrr.
One thing is clear, though. Down there amongst the disorder is a clearly defined temporary walkway. Goodie!
