The two giant Cunard liners, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2, sailed into Sydney Harbour today.
They are among the largest passenger vessels ever constructed. I couldn't resist going in to town
to get some pictures. A separate gallery, with lots of different views, will go up in the next day
or so but here is a pic of the Queen Elizabeth. This picture is a little misleading. Evidently the
ships are ABLE to pass under the harbour bridge but it'd be a close run thing, I'd say.

A truly magnificent capture, beautifully framed and technically perfect. BBV

We're thinking alike; this was my PAD subject from today. I doubt that the new one could clear the bridge unless she was way low in the water; at the time that I did my QE2 "final visit" gallery I checked that and found that the clearance under the bridge is 49 metres while QE2 required 50. QE looks higher to me, though I can't find her height listed anywhere. Still, it's a handsome portrait.

Just saw on the news that Queen Mary 2 was due to sail across to NZ and berth at Lyttelton. That's been cancelled due to the devistation from the quake.

It must take a lot of people and oars to row that boat...

She is not the largest passenger ship in the world, Royal Carribean holds that title. This ship is the SECOND largest in Cunards line.
