This pic is from the St Mary's shoot about a week ago. The foundation stone for this neo-gothic
building was laid in 1868, following the fire which destroyed the original cathedral. William
Wardell designed it and the first section was opened for worship in 1882. The whole thing wasn't
completed and dedicated until 1907 and the large spires (part of the original design) weren't actually
erected until 1998. This picture shows the main eastern side entrance. The stone exterior was
steam cleaned not long ago.
