Well here is the third of our seven bridges. The Iron Cove Bridge spans Iron Cove, carrying
Victoria Rd across it. The structure has been expanded to carry five lanes in "tidal flow" (three
lanes go with the peak hour direction. There are plans to completely "duplicate" the bridge with a
second independent structure, effectively doubling the crossing's capacity. As usual, endless
bickering has stalled the project. This existing bridge was built in 1942 and was the last such
structure in the state to incorporate rivet fastened steel trusses.
