A glance back at the boats of east Manly Cove. When I was a kid and you came to Manly by ferry for
the day, they used to have "speedboat rides" around the cove. There weren't so many private boats
back then. The speedboat was one of those beautiful old 1920s inboard powered timber vessels whose
meticulous brightwork shone like the sun. The speedboat driver wore a spivvy uniform with an
official looking peaked cap. Quaint stuff but nice too.
