At first inland looks like a better prospect but no local joggers arrive to show us where to cross and we
(that is "I") chicken out. "Book! Book! Book! BOOOOOOOOOOOOK!" we leave the beach by the nearest marked
access path. Dee Why looks tantalisingly close but we must add half an hour to the hike and go around
Dee Why Lagoon Wildlife Refuge.
