Atop the steps we look down the furthest-most extent of Long Reef - seen here approaching high tide.
You may notice a pelican to the centre right of the image. We were up here for about 10 minutes or so
and were able to watch this bird repeatedly fly in over the centre of the headland, effortlessly
surfing the prevailing air currents as a gliding sail plane. For me it resembled a board rider
sweeping into the beach before swimming out past the breakers for another go. Wheeeeeeeeeee!
