Yongin Folk Village

Folk Village, Yongin County, Gyeonggi Provice, Korea

I visited the Folk Village ¹Î¼ÓÃÌ many times during the 7-years I was stationed in Korea. It is an excellent place to expand one's knowledge of the Korean langauge and culture by seeing first hand what traditional life was like prior to the technological advances of the 20th century. Seeing how Koreans worked and lived back then reminded me of places I've been that depict how Americans lived such as Williamsburng VA, Charleston SC, Tweetsie Railroad in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NC, Sir Walter Raleigh's Lost Colony at the Outer Banks of NC, the OK Corral in Tombstone AZ, Old Town Sacramento CA and even the earliest structures of Cannery Row in Monterey and Pacific Grove, CA. I was fortunate to be stationed Yongin at the Third ROK Army (TROKA) Headquarters for my first 2-year tour in Korea which is located near the Yongin Folk Village and also near Yongin's Everland Amusement Park which is on the same caliber as Disneyland in L.A. except that Everland also has a double gated live African safari park where lions, tigers and bears eat slabs of meat dangling from hooks attached to the windows of tour buses.
