The Silver Star medal was presented to World War II Veteran SGT Sam Redfield by AUSA Chapter President BG(Ret) Gerald Griffin at an incredibly heart-touching ceremony today that honored Veteran's Day. In the haste for Soldiers to return home at the end of the War SGT Redfield was never presented this award for valor he earned by saving dozens of his comrades by attacking an enemy position with a grenade. Kudos to the Army for recognizing this hero 65-years after the fact.
