This photo was taken (before I realized that I was breaking the rules) at a breathtaking exhibit out at PS1, an annex of the Museum of Modern Art out in Long Island City in Queens.
It was a much deserved retrospective of the work of Thomas Lanigan Schmidt.
Tommy was a friend back when we lived here 40 years ago and the exhibit gave us a chance to meet up again at the opening, but we also went back three more times.
A photograph can't ever really convey the magical quality of these rooms. They literally shimmer.
And it's so easy to loose track of the fact that almost everything is fashioned out of aluminum foil, colored cellophane, bits of old photographs and lots of plastic crap.
We were so lucky to be there. Sorry you missed it!
