DSCN3300.jpg

We live on Jones Street which runs for just one block between Bleecker and West Fourth Street.
It is well know that the "Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" cover photo was shot on the block.
Recently we saw a movie about the 60s/70s folk music scene here in the 'village': "Greenwich Village: Music That Defined a Generation"
The memoirs of Suze Rotolo, the young woman by Dylan's side, were an important part of the film.
As we returned home that night we saw that parking on the block had been restricted for a "ESPN photo essay" the next morning.
Sure enough, on our pre-breakfast walk the next day we discovered that the block was empty save for these vintage cars that had been trucked in.
I took one quick photo thinking that I would have a chance to get more after breakfast when the shoot was actually underway.
As it turned out though, it was done very quickly and I missed that other chance. Perhaps the weather forcast for hail and 'ice pellets' had something to do with that.
Strangely, although they were on the right block, they shot in the wrong direction...
probably because the far end of the block, where the original shot was set up precisely 50 years ago(!!!!!), is now overgrown with trees.
