On Thanksgiving morning we walked uptown on Sixth Avenue toward the general vicinity of the parade.
One has to arrive very early in the morning to actually have a place along the route and we hadn't even considered doing that.
Macy's is on Sixth Ave at 34th street (known as Herald Square) and when we got closer to the crowds we began to see the balloons coming down the avenue and slowly making a right turn on 34th Street.
The balloon in the picture on the left is actually several blocks away and is, obviously if you watched it on TV, much larger than it might appear to be in this shot.
After a while we walked west to Eighth Avenue where the parade ended and hung around for a while as various elves and other assorted characters and thingamajigs dispersed into the crowds.
