| I attended a conference in September 2008 in Cape Town and added a two week period thereafter (10-24 Sept) to enjoy some birding in the Eastern and Western Cape area. I was mainly interested to see Cape endemics, and the main places that I managed to visit with my birding friend were Table Mountain NP, West Coast NP, Karoo NP (Beaufort West), Gouna Forest (Knysna), De Hoop Nature Reserve (Agulhas Plains). I also tried a pelagic day trip for albatrosses and other seabirds during the conference (Simon's Town). The overall bird list of the trip was c. 250 species.
