| I visited Brazil from 6-16 October 2019. The trip started from Cuiaba/Varzea Grande (Mato Grosso State) from where we drove south along the 160 km of the Transpantaneira road, from Poconé (north) to Porto Jofre (southern end). We visited several lodges along the road (Poussada Piuval, Pantanal Mato Grosso Hotel, Rio Claro Lodge, Hotel Pantanal Norte, Pouso Alegre Lodge) from 6-12 October and birded their surrounding grounds, either on foot or by boat along the Cuiaba River or a tributary to it, e.g. Rio Pixaim. The second part of the trip, from 13-15 October 2019, was dedicated to visit Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, which is located 80 km north of Cuiaba. There we stayed at Pousada Casa da Quineira in Chapada dos Guimarães Town, and visited several spots inside the NP (Vale da Bençao, etc) in search of Cerrado (Brazilian Savanna) endemics.
