According to Murphy's law, the fact that I didn't want a lot of rain whilst building the observatory virtually guaranteed that I would get plenty! Since I only had weekends to build it I used a large tarpaulin to keep it as dry as I could. Rain tended to pool in the tarp between the trusses so I was constantly positioning temporary pieces of wood / ply / etc to stop this happening.
