We awoke at dawn one morning. A boat appeared out of the mist that obscured any view of the land. The boat pulled up below our cabin (we were on the 9th level); as we were now in Alaskan waters, the Canadian who had been piloting our boat stepped out of an opening from off our ship and onto the pilot boat. A few moments later the little boat disappeared back into the mist.
