The annual Pony Express reride covers the legendary route of the Pony Express between St. Joseph, MO, and Sacramento, CA, reversing direction each year. This year's ride traveled west, and these photos show a portion of the ride near Genoa, Nevada. Usually held in June, the 2011 reride was delayed until August due to a horse virus that was prevalent in June. Shown in these photos are our friend Mike (on the white horse), U.S. Senator Dean Heller (on the brown horse) and his wife Lynne Heller (on the black horse). The Senator and his wife rode a segment between Genoa and Old Kingsbury Road, swapping the mochila of mail between their two horses midway at Wally's Hot Springs Hotel. Both of them recited the Pony Express Oath during a ceremony at Mormon Station in Genoa. Also shown at Mormon Station is our friend Barbara, another rider, holding the small Bible that is presented to each rider, according to the Pony Express tradition.
