During the month of February 2009, Wisley Gardens in Surrey turned their hothouse into a tropical butterfly exhibition.
I was not prepared for the intense heat or the overwhelming humidity that greeted me on arrival. My glasses and, more importantly, my camera immediately steamed up. Minutes later, and I and everything I wore or carried was soaked by the overhead spray nozels which recreated the jungle-like conditions. In short, a photographer's nightmare.
I managed to salvage a few shots from the extreme conditions, but I'm not sure I'd ever want to put myself or my camera through that again.
