Deputy Oliver Bryan - Interview

George Bryan Shot Near Till
Had Gone With His Brother Oliver and Sheriff Hartley to Arrest John Johnson

On Wednesday afternoon of last week, a Baptist Church at Till was burned by an incendiary and as John Johnson, a prosperous farmer living near the church had some trouble with some of the members and had made some threats, he was suspected of the crime. One of the neighbors came in and two warrants sworn out against Johnson, one for arson and the other for presenting a gun on Rev. W. H. Joyner.

Sheriff Hartley and Deputy Bryan started out to make the arrest last Friday and asked Mr. George Bryan one of the policeman and brother of Deputy Sheriff Oliver to go with them. From Mr. Oliver Bryan, whom we interviewed, we gathered the particulars as follows:
