Written by a writer and friend for The Winnfield News-American May 7, 1926:

This writer has just recieved a telegram from Alvin Hahn advising me on the death of not only a man who was
unquestionably a 'valuable citizen of Winn Parish,but one of the best criminal officers this writer has ever known---Bob Boyett.
It was my good fortune to know Bob" Boyett as intimately perhaps more than any other man in his home parish,
and I know of no man worthy of being held in higher esteem.He was that rare type of officer absolutely fearless,
and conscientious to a fault in the discharge of his duty,but still without arrogant disposition to constantly take advantage
of his authority to browbeat and impose on persons unfortunate enough to become entangled in the meshes of the law;
an officer that never vacillated from the path of duty,but in holding to the path did so with kindness and consideration.
HE HAD A HEART AS BiG AS HIS WAIST LINE.
He was scrupulously honest,and he was one of the not too great number found today absolutely loyal and devoted to their families.I have been associated with him in fraternal organizations,in politics,and in American Legion work,and in all of these activities he was guided by a conscientiousness and sense of fairness that lifted him above the plane of the average individual.There can be no doubt that Winn Parish has indeed lost one of it's most valuable citizens,and the law has lost one of its most faithful guardians.
