My Howell DNA #181011
1. David Howell b. 1775 d. before 1840 in Pike Co., GA. He was listed as Davis
Howel in the 1830 census in Pike Co., GA. In the 1820 census he was listed in Wilkinson Co.,
GA living next to his mother-in-law Rebecca Tinney. David Howell married Nancy
Tinney apparently in Wilkinson Co., GA. Nancy Tinney was born between 1784 and
1794 in Newberry District, SC. Nancy Howell was listed in the 1840 census in
Pike Co., GA as head of the family. A grandaughter of Nancy Tinney Howell, who
was named Nancy Rebecca Howell, born in 1849, wrote that she remembered her
Grandmother Nancy Tinney Howell telling of some of her lifes experiences. She
didn't remember when she died, but it would have had to be after 1854. It is my
belief that this David Howell is probably from the Howell family that came into
GA from NC in the mid 1750's. I have not been able to find anything that proves
this.
