These are very nice photos of South African wildlife. I came here from a link on dpreview on the thread, "Upgrade for Africa trip". I am the tknterry user there. I was in Africa in 1990 and took a film SLR camera and 70-300 lens with me. I am going back to Africa this October with my Canon 40D dSLR. I have a Canon 70-300 IS lens now that I like quite well, but I am considering buying the Canon 70-200L F4 IS lens for my October trip since its image quality is superior to the 70-300's. Did you use your 70-200L F4 lens on all these photos? Did you feel like you missed many shots due to the 200mm telephoto limit of the lens? Of course, in comparison to a film SLR which I took to Africa in 1990, the focal length is actually 320mm with the 1.6 crop factor of the 40D's sensor, which is comparable to my old film SLR's 70-300mm's upper limit.
How well did the Canon 70-200L F4 IS lens serve you in Africa? Thanks very much for your assistance!
