These are images--mostly of flowers--that were taken using foam core board (FCB)
as a backing, and then further processed in Photoshop. Black FCB provides a relatively
uniform background that is easily selected in PS, and can then be replaced by pure black,
some other color, or a gradient. I sometimes use white or light blue FCB, as well as black.

The use of FCB as an inexpensive home studio background material was pioneered by
Uncle Frank of the Digital Photography Review's Nikon Talk Forum. It is lightweight and
easy to handle, so it's also very useful "in the field", which is where I use it. The Nikon Talk Forum
is now home to the FCAS (Foam Core Addicts Society), which shows how popular the technique
has become.
