Quite amazing... In Cuba I have been looking just about everywhere to get a few green leafs or anything to resemble a salad but without much effect. This is one of the best looking salads imaginable that does not remotely resemble the Cuban cuisine. Perhaps your friends referred to Havana when they spoke of beans and rice.
