Geoffrey & I went to pick up my car this morning. It has been at the body shop since June 8th, 2001. It's not finished yet....... but I couldn't wait any longer. With the weather changing I had to get it home soon or face moving it in snow / rain / assorted crap weather.
The rear wing has to be painted (and clear coated); the headlights have to be (re)mounted; inner fenders (re)mounted; ground effects (re)mounted; interior hatch area re-assembled; hood latch attached and the paint has to be buffed and polished.
I've never gone through a nightmare such as this. The entire job was scheduled for two weeks! As time passed it just snowballed - to the point where the garage owner wouldn't see the body man for weeks at a time. He ignored phone calls, notes left for him, messages left for him - he just quit doing anything! I was caught in a situation where I had no place to turn; I could have sued the garage owner, but he was getting screwed worse than I was. He hadn't done anything but try to get my car finished for me.
I'm sure there will be repercussions with this body man - but the garage owner agrees that I shouldn't give him one dime for what work he actually did do to my car. I will keep everyone posted on the situation.
